Money is tight for most of us right now, so it’s more important than ever to get great value for money when you spend. Not all ‘deals’ are good, though, and that’s where our experts can help.

Our John Lewis deals page only features products that we’ve put through our test lab, and we will never promote deals on products we know perform poorly.

However, it's still worth checking our reviews to help you choose the right product for your needs.

Best John Lewis sales deals 2023: TVs

LG OLED48C24LA

LG OLED48C24LA television
  • 48-inch 4K TV
  • OLED display
  • Supports HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ formats

We like: Sharp and colourful picture

We don't like: Menus can be fiddly to navigate

LG’s C range of OLEDs tend to be some of the best on the market and the 48-inch OLED48C24LA is packed with great features and, of course, an OLED display.

It includes 7.1.2 channel speakers built into the TV (although no surround sound, if that's what you're looking for), LG's excellent Magic Remote, 120Hz display, FreeSync and G-Sync software and VRR. These were all state-of-the-art features on release in 2022, but more than hold their own heading into 2024.

Check out the LG OLED48C24LA review to see if this is among the best TVs out there.

Best John Lewis iPhone deals

Apple iPhone 14

Apple iPhone 14
  • 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display
  • Dual-camera system
  • A15 Bionic chip

We like: Durable

We don’t like: No telephoto camera for zooming in

Estimated minimum remaining security support: 5 years

Last year's iPhone 14 has been discounted since the arrival of its successor. The processor is the same as in the iPhone 13, but it received an upgraded 5-core GPU and 6GB of memory.

This iPhone has a dual-camera system on the rear. The 12-megapixel main camera has a 1.5 aperture, while the single front camera has built-in autofocus.

The iPhone 14 is on offer at John Lewis for £649.

Is this discounted iPhone worth a look? Our iPhone 14 review has the answer.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro

Apple iPhone 14 Pro
  • 6.1-inch (2556 x 1179) Super Retina XDR ProMotion OLED Always-On display
  • 48Mp wide camera, with additional telephoto and ultrawide cameras
  • Estimated minimum of six years of security updates from launch

We like Highly versatile cameras

We don’t like Difficult to repair

Slightly smaller than the iPhone 14 Pro Max but still containing the most premium cameras and enhanced features in the iPhone 14 range. The 'Always On' disaplay feature was a first for iPhones when the 14 came out, and it’s fuelled by the new and improved Apple A16 Bionic Chip. It comes in three big storage options – 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

The 256GB version of this phone is currently on offer at John Lewis (£999) in Deep Purple, saving £150 off the typical price.

To find out if it lives up to expectations, check out our iPhone 14 review.

  • Freestanding
  • 11kg cottons capacity
  • White

We like: Energy and water efficient

We don't like: Long program times

This 11kg capacity washing machine uses Ecobubble technology, which the manufacturer claims ‘creates bubbles that wash your clothes at cooler temperatures, helping you to bring down your energy bills’. Its 14 programs include eco, cottons and synthetics programs, as well as everything from a 15-minute express wash and drum cleaning to washes specialising in bedding or delicates. It's cheapest from Amazon but still cheaper than usual from John Lewis.

This 10kg capacity washing machine has enough space for a large household's washing, and it has 14 programs ranging from your standard cotton and eco washes to special high-speed washes as short as 14 minutes. It doesn't have smart connectivity but does have some neat features like a delayed start, a child lock and a time-remaining display.

  • If you're buying online, keep an eye on John Lewis’ Sales & Offers page, which features limited-time offers on specific departments. Though it's unlikely you'll be able to claim a double discount on products already on sale, being able to save money on a full-priced item may influence your Black Friday buying decisions.
  • The John Lewis website also has a Clearance section where we've spotted everything from washing machines and tumble dryers to cotbeds and cuddly toys. If you are going to take the plunge on a new home appliance in the sales, make sure to read our reviews first so you don’t end up with a dud.
  • Sign up for a My John Lewis membership and you’ll get a money-off voucher after your first purchase, as well as personalised discounts throughout the year.

How to recycle your old appliances

If you're looking to buy a new appliance this festive season, be sure to dispose of your old one in a responsible way.

You have a couple of options if you want to offload your unwanted appliances. Kerbside collection is suitable for small electrical items – in many cases, your local council will collect smaller items such as toasters and kettles. Otherwise, you can simply drop the items at your local recycling centre.

For more details on how to get rid of your unused gadgets, check our advice on how to recycle electrical items.
